Travel Tip for Barga-Italy
Italy is full of surprises in every part of her boot! My friend, Denise, encouraged me to visit Barga, which is a small hilltop town with Medieval influences, consisting of around 800 citizens living in the historical center. You will find artists, ex-pats and locals enjoying the sweet life there. We took a bus from Lucca, which takes about 45 minutes or more, depending on whether or not the local students are on on the bus.
It was a sleepy town on a September afternoon in Barga, as the stores close for the afternoon, but there is a jazz festival in the summer and the Romanesque Duomo at the top of the town is beautiful. It’s worth it to walk to the top for the panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and valleys.
The surrounding views were breath-taking!
